2018년 1월 미얀마 성지순례_양곤(로카찬다 옥불사와 차욱탓치 파고다)

양곤공항에 내려 공항청사로 이동하는 버스 안에서 옆자리에 앉았던 미얀마 여인에게 허락을 받고 찍은 사진. 10개의 발톱을 모두 예쁘게 치장했다.

오늘 양곤에서 미얀마 성지순례 마지막 날을 보낸다. 

양곤에서는 로카찬다 옥불사(THE LAWKA CHANTHA ABHAYA LABHA MUNI BUDDHA IMAGE) - 점심 - 차욱탓치 파고다(Chauk-htat-gyi Buddha Temple) - 까바예 파고다(Kaba Aye pagoda)에서 부처님 진신사리 친견(미얀마종교성 협조) - Maha pasana Cave(The Great Sima Guha) - 아웅산묘역의 순국기념탑(묘역 내부로 들어가지는 않음) - 쉐다곤파고다(Shwe Dagon Pagoda) - 저녁 - 양곤국제공항으로 이동하여 귀국행 비행기 탑승 일정이 예정되어 있다.

그런데 양곤공항에 내리니 덥다, 더워!

우리는 땡볓 속에서 세계 최대 옥불이 모셔져 있는 로카찬다 옥불사로 이동했다(공항에서 가까움). 여기는 2013년 하반기에 두차례나 양곤을 거쳐 네피도를 방문했음에도 불구하고, 시간이 허락하질 않아 가보지 못했던 곳이다.

Kyauk Taw Gyi Pagoda is one of the largest marble Buddha Images in Myanmar. People around Myanmar come to visit the pagoda with amazing feeling because there are so many different things to catch the visitor’s heart. Kyauk Taw Gyi Pagoda is 37 feet in height, 24 feet in width and 11 feet in thickness. It is placed in a large glass enclosure to protect it from the elements.

 

Kyauk Taw Gyi Pagoda is located on top of Mindhama Hill near Yangon Airport in Mayangone Township. The Buddja Image was carried from Sagyin Hill, Madaya Township in Mandalay Region on July 10, 2000, and reached its current location on September 9, 2000. It is also known well as “Loka Chantha Abhaya Labha Muni” and is the only Marble Buddha Image in Yangon, Lower Myanmar. There are four Marble Buddha Images similar to Kyauk Taw Gyi Pagoda in Upper Myanmar.

 

Kyauk Taw Gyi Paoga was built with thirty two distinctive features or signs on the persons of the Buddha and the eighty detailed characteristic signs on the persons of Buddha according to Great Monks’ directive. Due to its size, it was very difficult to transport the Buddha Image to Yangon from Mandalay. The story of the journey of LOKA CHANTHA ABHAYA LABHAMUNI BUDDHA IMAGE was inscribed on the stone obelisk with four languages: Myanmar, English, Oriental(Parli) and Thet-Ka-Ta.

 

There are two stairways to reach the Pagoda, each 24 feet in width, 246 feet in length and surrounded by greenish trees, shady trees and other flowering plants. At the entrance of each stairway there are two large lions carving that are 36 feet in height. Visitors can be take a rest under the shady tree and can make the observation to the amazing large bowl for food and the distinguishing marks on the soles of the Buddha. And you will behold another Buddha Image and small stupa such as Yarazar Muni Buddha Image, Dhapanet Stupa, Aung Chan Thar Stupa and Nat Lu Chan Thar Stupa on the platform of Pagoda.

 

Many foreigners come to make observation to the pagoda, especially the large bowl for food which is in front of Buddha Temple. That bowl is 9 feet 4 inches in height and extent 6 feet 3 inches and people use it to donate rice to many monks. In the history book about Kyauk Taw Gyi Pagoda, it is described that people who use that food bowl in donating to the one thousand monks in the first Buddha Puzeniya Celebration. In the back of temple, there are two small temples where the distinguishing marks on the soles of the Buddha are also built.

 

Note that visitors are prohibited from wearing strapless or wide neck tops, short pants, low waist pants, shoes, socks, mini skirt, crop top and tank tops. Kyauk Taw Gyi Pagoda is located near Yangon Airport and can be reached easily by taxi or by bus. Buses will stop at the Kyauk Taw Gyi Bus stop and then it is about a 15 minutes or 20 minutes walk to the Pagoda.

 

The Pagoda is open from 6:00am to 8:00 pm daily.

다른 곳과는 달라 백옥부처님에 새똥이 뭍는 것을 막기 위해 유리로 보호하고 있는데, 그 바람에 아름다운 부처님 사진을 찍을 수는 없었다.

불상 앞에는 몇몇 여성들이 이 곳을 방문하는 사람들에게 부처님 말씀을 들려주기 위해 목소리가 끊어지지 않게 번갈아 가며 경전을 읽고 있었다. 

작은 옥으로는 부처님 제자 두분을 새겼다. 제자 두분이 누군지는 가물가물하다.

12시가 다 되었으므로, 우리는 점심을 먹으러 Kandawgyi 호수 근처에 있는 식당으로 갔다. Kandawgyi Lake 저쪽에 있는 수상식당은 Karaweik Palace라고 한다.

점심을 먹은 우리는 세계 최대 67m의 와불이 모셔진 차욱탓치 파고다(Chauk-htat-gyi Buddha Temple)로 갔다.

여기는 2013년 9월, 미얀마 네피도로 출장을 갔을 때 잠깐 들렀던 곳이다. 그 때와 달라진 점이 있다면, 부처님 상반신을 가리고 있던 철제 빔이 제거된 것이라고나 할까?
